Here we go again…

Or

Here we go again!

You can take that sequel subtitle to Mamma Mia! both ways, though seeing as I skipped the original, I can only guess how I’d say it, with wide eyes or rolled eyes.

Though thanks to Alan Partridge, I do partake in a spot of Abba from time to time. Don’t we all?

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again jumps from mother to daughter, past and present, telling the story of why she’s working so hard to open a hotel on a Greek island for rich people. There’s a spot of bad weather which nearly ruins the whole thing, but thankfully her three Dad’s are on it. When we aren’t seeing the present, we’re lost in the past, following the story of her mother and how she met these guys. They all sing Abba songs no matter the situation, no matter the year. And everyone has a good time.

The film did not make me feel like a super trouper however, for all I saw was a world filled with gorgeous people, faultless stars, all with sparkling white Colgate advert smiles. Anyone less than perfect was either a wise old woman or a joke. And how does that make you feel? Hollywood is all about glitz and glamour, but it’s been a while since I’ve seen such a thing, it was a shock to my ugly system. I couldn’t laugh, I couldn’t sing, I couldn’t relate. Lesson? The winner takes it all.
