But with Coco, the Day of the Dead related idea already feels done to death in popular culture, spanning numerous films and bars. But what Pixar have that others don’t, when they aren’t making Cars, is that ability to make those death masks feel like their own. So let’s celebrate The Day of the Dead, once more, with new vigour!

The Cars franchise is over ten years old, can you believe it? Lightning McQueen has been spinning round those NASCAR circuits longer in the time I’ve gone from being a hopeful college student to a miserable late twenties piece of curled up skin in the corner of a dark room. Because the light would raise those monthly bills. It seems Cars 3 is aware of such a time gap, and in the world of automobiles eleven years is a heck of a long time. Feel that rust, and let’s get racing!
